A Majority Of Congress Has Co-sponsored HR 550 PDF Print Email
By Warren Stewart, VoteTrustUSA
September 29, 2006

With the addition of Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD), Rep. Mel Watt (D-NC), Rep. Wayned Gilchrest (R-MD), and Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), "The Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act" (HR 550) is now co-sponsored by 218 members of the House - a majority.

Rep. Lofgren (pictured at right) announced her endorsement in dramatic fashion during a hearing of the Committee on House Adminstration devoted to the subject of electronic voting security, verification, and paper trails. While Rep. Holt's legislation has been introduced since May 2003, it had not received a hearing until yesterday, the next to last day before Congress goes into recess until after the November elections.
