It's Time to Take Back Our Elections!

One year ago today, Americans experienced one of the most bitter and fiercely disputed elections in our country's history. Next week, many of us will return to the polls to vote in state and local elections. Next year's Congressional elections could change the course of history. Will the results reflect the will of the voters?

Concerned citizens in almost every state have been fighting back. More than half the states now require voting machines to produce voter-verified paper records of every vote (VVPR). But if we want our national leaders to be fairly elected a year from today, there is still much work to be done. Thatâs why VoteTrustUSA has brought together more than 40 state-based organizations from across the country to form a powerful and unprecedented national movement to take back our elections. VoteTrustUSA has dramatically expanded the ability of the election integrity movement to improve election laws, regulations, and administration across the country. Together, we are striving to ensure that future elections are open, fair, accessible, publicly transparent, and accurately reflect the intentions of the voters. VoteTrustUSA: Working Together to Make a Difference

In less than a year, VoteTrustUSA has:

Briefed and built positive, working relationships with 85 US. Senate offices, 60 U.S. Representatives, Majority and Minority Senate leadership, and leadership of relevant House and Senate Committees.
Organized Lobby Days in Washington DC and in-district, involving more than 700 citizen-lobbyists, in coalition with Common Cause, Working Assets, VerifiedVoting.org,Electronic Frontier Foundation, VotersUnite and other organizations
Held a highly successful, 3-day Leadership Workshop and Strategy Session in Washington DC for more than 60 leaders of state and local election integrity organizations from states across the country.
Effectively connected state and local leaders of the VoteTrust USA coalition, enabling them to communicate, strategize, and work together with their peers and VoteTrustUSA staff in real time.
Provided testimony to the Election Assistance Commission, the General Accounting Office, and the Commission on Federal Election Reform.
Consulted with three Senate staffs to develop election integrity legislation to be introduced soon.
Provided direct consultation, resource development and/or one-to-one assistance upon request to leaders of more than 35 state and county level organizations.
Launched an interactive, Online Knowledge Base to provide immediate access to continually updated informational and educational resources.
Published more than 50 original briefing papers and analysis pieces based on research and input by VoteTrustUSA staff and coalition leaders.
Developed training materials in key subject areas (Organizational Development; Media Strategies; Framing the Issues; Lobbying Skills and Strategies; Auditing Elections; and Poll Watching Strategies for Electronic Voting) requested by coalition leaders
Represented the election integrity movement at the first-ever joint strategy meeting of leaders of national Voting Rights and Election Reform organizations.
